5. Character is very important The importance of a godly character cannot be overemphasized. You know scriptures say to let our lives so shine, that people may see our good works and glorify our father who is in heaven. The good works that people will see and be drawn to our father is our godly character. It's not enough for us to be born again, there is also the need to develop godly character. The summary of godly character that should be developed are the fruits of the spirit. The good thing is that at salvation, we received the potential to bear these fruits. What is left for us is to continually yield ourselves to the ministry of the Holy spirit as he helps us in development of these virtues. Several situations and circumstances will be coming our way in our walk with the Lord, all in a bid to grow these virtues inside of us. Note that it does not just happen over the night. It's a gradual process as you continually yield yourself to the ministry of the Word and of the

4. Your relationship with God is more important than any other relationship  I heard someone whisper, 'even more than my relationship with my husband?' Oh yes!! Your most important relationship is the one you have with the Lord, and should be given utmost priority. Nothing must tamper with it. You must see to it that you are fueling it, day in and day out. That is not to say that every form of relationship is not important. Of course, we are relational beings. Parents, spouses, children, siblings, friends etc. These are people in our lives at every point in time, and it's very important to maintain these bonds. However, not at any point in time should any of these relationships affect your relationship with God. The Lord wants us to guard our fellowship with him seriously. As an unmarried lady, your mother or father or fiance is not your source. The Lord is your source. They shouldn't be depended upon for meeting every of your needs of finances, happiness and so on

3. There's a reason for which God has created you. Scripture says, known unto God are all his works, from the foundation of the world. Do you know that the Lord knew you before He made you? You are part of his works and He had you in mind. He planned your creation with a purpose in mind, from the foundation of the world before He eventually created you. So lady, you have a purpose. You are not an accident. You may be unplanned by your parents, probably even unwanted, but the Lord planned and wanted you and there is a reason for which He does. He created you as a solution to a challenge here on earth. There's a general purpose why God created humans, there's a purpose why He created woman, and there is a specific purpose why He created you. So I want you to know that every situation you have passed through in life, every challenge you have faced, is all part of the purpose of your creation. Begin to embrace who you are. See life from the perspective of purpose. There

2. The state of your spirit is much more important than the state of your body. Yay, am a lady, and I know what matters to us a lot: our physical appearance. We love to look good. We spend so much on the dresses, on the accessories, the shoes etc. Do you know that your spiritual appearance is more important than your physical appearance? Let me put it to you! How many hours do you spend trying to look good? How many hours do you spend with the word and prayers? How much is your monthly budget on make up and accessories? How much is your monthly budget on books, bibles, and other spiritual materials that can help your growth?. The point is am guilty myself, and you know what, the spirit of God brought it to my attention. Recently, hubby included in the house budget some clothing materials for me, but yeee, I can't remember the last time I asked for the budget for a study bible to be included for me. Time to repent (change of heart that brings about a change of attitude). Be

1. Your beauty does not lie in how people perceive you. Your beauty depends on how you perceive yourself. Nowadays, we are configured in our minds to understand beauty in terms of society views. We think beauty is in the flawless skin, the flat stomach and the modelling hard-to-get shape. These pictures are so much painted in our minds to the extent that we see ourselves as non-beautiful when we are none of these and we see some certain people as the beauties. Can I tell you that your beauty depends on you. You need to see yourself as beautiful, regardless of how anyone sees you. A change in perception about yourself will equally affect or cause a change in every area of life and will consequently change how you are looked upon by people around you. Start to perceive yourself well. Look into the mirror and tell yourself that you are beautiful. Please Subscribe for updates * indicates required Email Address * First name

How to develop Poise 3- The way you act

Today, we are going to wrap up on this series. It's been an interesting one for me so far. In the previous post, I have shared about the way to  speak , and the way to  look . 3. The way you act Like I would always say, there's is a way to do things as a member of the beloved family of God. There is a way we act. We don't behave anyhow. We are courteous, we respect people, we are people of love. As a poise lady, here are some virtues that should be developed. A gentle and a quiet spirit You can develop a gentle and a quiet spirit by God's word. It shows in your ability to be calm even when situation and circumstances is calling for unrest. It shows in your ability to take charge and not let the situations control how you act. It's much more than having a cool temperament. Some people are quiet by nature, but they don't have a quiet spirit. Their spirit is so busy. You might be an active person, in fact an extrovert, but yet you have a gentle and quiet s

Saturday Special- Joshua 1:9

Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Nothing is more soothing than the ever present presence of God. God realizing and knowing this has promised us His daily presence, his moment presence, 'and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age'. Have you ever been in a state of despair, a state of giving up, a point where it seems like no one cares and when it looks like you are the only one pushing through. I have been through some myself but the thought of God's never leaving presence keeps me on my feet. I remember when I was younger, during stormy rains, the rooftops would be blowing as if it was going to lift off my house. Even though, somewhere in me is afraid, the thought of my 'mum' being there reduces the fear. How much more God, our amazing father who loved us, not only with words of mouth like many do, but he loved us by giving-he gave sacrificially. He loved us an

How to develop Poise 2- The way you look

I trust that you are doing great. We are still on the journey to developing poise. You can check the last article here . You know what, something funny happened; my friend called me on phone, speaking so soft and tenderly. I was wondering where that was coming from, until she told me that, well, that was what you said on your blog. It was on a lighter mood and I really laughed, but still, it was good to know that someone remembered what I wrote. Having dealt with the way we speak, today let's consider 2. The way you look Your look is very important in the journey to being poise. You need to look good at all times. Here are few points to note. a. Take good care of your hair. Your hair is your adornment and should be properly maintained. Wash regularly, make use of essential treatments. Prevent dandruff from making your hair an habitation, as that can be very embarrassing. Be feminine in styling your hair. Make use of hair roses, scarves and pins. Be very crea

How to develop Poise 1- The way you speak

I hope you are enjoying this series as much as I am. In the last post, I wrote that you need to know who you are, to develop poise and that this knowledge can only come from interacting with God's word and God's Spirit. You can check the post  here . I want to mention some few things to bear in mind as you embark upon the journey of developing poise. 1. The way you speak There's a way to speak in the Kingdom. We don't talk anyhow. We don't talk as someone without knowledge. We talk as queens and princesses that we are. The word of God says to speak with grace. There is a graceful speaking, that edifies your hearers. There is a way to speak that people are always blessed. For the Proverbs 31 woman, the law of kindness was upon her lips. Lady, you need to learn to speak. Only speak words that minister grace to the hearers. Let me also note here that as a lady, learn to speak softly and tenderly. It's an hallmark of femininity. Softness and tenderness a

What does it mean to be Poise?

Let's start with the theme of this blog. 'Poise'. What does it mean? Well, I checked the dictionary!!! Poise is a graceful and elegant bearing in a person. Being poise has to do with being confident, being balanced and being in control, being calm even in face of stressful and challenging situations. It also has to do with strength and grace. It shows in one's speech, in one's carriage, in one's expressions, in the way one addresses situations and even people. Poise can be developed, and I would say that such grace and strength can only come from knowledge. If you would ask me, what knowledge, then I would say 'the knowledge of who you are'. A correct perception of yourself will change the way you walk, the way you talk, the way you handle situations. The question then is who are you? The moment you become born again, you have been delivered from the power of darkness, and translated into the Kingdom of God's dear Son. In t
